Back Where The Groove Began

A fitting close to its "It Starts Where It Ends" tour, Perpetual Groove returned to Athens for a 3 night run at the Georgia Theatre---the same venue at which the group kicked off its tour in early September. On December 29, Perpetual Groove held a setlist contest to choose the song list for the first night of its run, while bassist Adam Perry's brother, Damien, sat in on "Free Ride to the Show" at the end of the group's second set. A night later, the SeepeopleS's Will Bradford, who opened the group's show, also sang lead vocals on a cover of Soundgarden's "Blow Up The Outside World." Perpetual Groove nodded to the past and looked towards the future on New Year's Eve, performing two of its newest numbers: "Lunatix the Guide" and "Only Always." At the start of its third set, Perpetual Groove opened with "Speed Queen," before segueing into a New Years countdown, Prince's "Kiss" and, finally, back into "Speed Queen." Later, Damien Perry returned to help his brother close out Perpetual Groove's performance with a version of the Beatles' "Helter Skelter." In January, Perpetual Groove will perform throughout the Southeast before venturing to California in February.
