Chicago Innerview, April 2007 PreviewSeepeopleS' latest effort, Apocalypse Cow, seems more than a bit quirky when judged strictly on name and cover art alone. And it's meant to be. The Asheville, North Carolina-based group's third release "tells the story of a man coming of age in a world that often seems built on nonsense." However, SeepeopleS and their music are totally relevant. And this album proves a band that doesn't take life too seriously can view its music earnestly. Apocalypse Cow considers the listeners' needs and desires to hear fresh, new tracks — each beholding a completely different lyrical theme and sound. Sometimes the vocals seem reminiscent of Soul Asylum, other times instrumentals scream Radiohead and, of course, the spoken word tracks about, well, words, remind one of those cheesy educational film strips of days gone by. But the album as a whole is uniquely and delightfully SeepeopleS. For a refreshing musical change, bring on the Apocalypse.
