Asheville Citizen-Times, January 2006 Terrapin Jamfest: Three Hot Bands Play Orange Peel Event "Putting out this Jamfest tour is a great way to take that festival atmosphere into an indoor venue in the wintertime." Now in its second year, The Orange Peel stop is one of 18 dates included on the tour. The 2006 edition is "bigger and better" than last year's debut trek, Watts says. Here's a quick look at who's on the ticket: Moonshine Still Out of Macon, Ga., Moonshine Still headlines this year's Jamfest. "We try to escape a stylistic ... genre," drummer/vocalist Will Robinson explains. "We're looking for truth in sound. We're all big music critics and like so many different styles (of music) - we bring what we like to the table, and we'll try anything as long as it sounds good." Robinson is joined by lead singer/guitarist Scott Baston, bassist Ray Petren, Bill Jarrett on percussion, David Shore on guitar, and Trippe Wright on keys. Moonshine Still has been together about nine years, and has put out two albums, and performed in nearly every outdoor music festival in the Southeast and, for three straight years, they've also been invited to perform in the High Sierra Music Festival in Quincy, Calif. CX-1 This is an offshoot from two of this region's successful jambands: Snake Oil Medicine Show and Acoustic Syndicate. "We've all been friends for a really long time and have always played music together," says Jay Sanders, bassist and guitarist for CX-1. "(So) it felt really natural and exciting for us all to come together as we had more time." Sanders is joined by George Pond on guitar and bass, Andy Pond on banjo, and Billy Seawell on drums and percussion. CX-1's objective these days is to "explore all cultures and explore all flavors of music, and in doing so transcend them to make the world a better place," according to Sanders. Seepeoples Will Bradford, frontman, guitarist, vocalist and keyboard player for Asheville-based Seepeoples, doesn't mince his words. "We're a rock band, first and foremost," Bradford says. "We're not a (traditonal) jamband - that implies ... improvising and trying to get the band to a new place every time. Our music isn't that way. We'll jam and take solos, but we know where we want to be and where we want our music to go." Bradford will be joined by Dan Ingenthorn on bass and Tim Haney on drums, and this show will be a rare 3-piece date with Seepeoples' original lineup. The band has toured up and down the Eastern Seaboard since 2000, and in that time Bradford has seen his style of writing and performing grow and mature. "People who like our band like us because we're really passionate about what we sing and write about," Bradford says. "Even if you don't like our music, which we hope you do, you'll definitely be thoroughly entertained."
