SeepeopleS News

April 8, 2008

Greetings ARME!

Two big pieces of news this week, so let's just tuck right on in to the nitty gritty, shall we?  SeepeopleS have been nominated for a 2008 Relix Magazine Jammy Award for Best New Artist; aka "new groove."  Vote for us, vote for us now, have your friends vote for us, and spread the word!

VOTE HERE:  www.jammys.com

Secondly, the tour is going great, and don't forget that we're doing a very special non profit event on April 16th at Cinebarre--come and see the HeadCount Documentary "A Call To Action" and stay for a SeepeopleS show directly after.  $5 suggested donation at the door.  Have a beer, see a righteously awesome independent movie... and you even can register to vote while you're there.  Does it get much better than that?  No.

And speaking of HeadCount, SeepeopleS are proud to announce that we will be working with HeadCount this year, registering voters and raising political consciousness.  We encourage all of our fans to register to vote, and also volunteer for HeadCount and get involved.  To volunteer or register, go to www.headcount.org

More to come.  In the meantime, register to vote and check out some candidates.

Stay golden Ponyboy,

Your PeepS Will, Tim, Dan and Pete, and everyone back here at PeepS HQ.

Greetings ARME!

Just so's you all know, we've rescheduled our tragically canceled Boone Saloon show for April 2nd.  In case you didn't know, the reason we had to cancel was due to a wheel that flew, unceremoniously, off of the band's trailer while careening down I-95, which made for an... interesting day. Anyone who wants to see pictures of how the band amused themselves while waiting for help can visit our myspace page, and check out the photo gallery. Luckily, no one was hurt, but our little hearts were broken that we had to miss that show.  A patrol of the perimiter later that day did not turn up the phantom wheel, so we're going with the theory that it simply vaporized.  Or that Sgt. Slaughterhouse is up to his old tricks again. Who knows. Regardless, we're making it up to you, baby!  Come and see us on Wed. April 2 at the Boone Saloon.

In non-wheel related news, SeepeopleS will once again be opening for our slammin-outrageous friends Perpetual Groove at the Bottleneck in Lawrence, KS on April 8th.  That should be a good one, so: Midwesterners Unite! Tickets are only ten bucks.

Another good friend, James Quick, local photographer extraordinaire, was kind enough to snap some great photos of the band's Grey Eagle show. Check them out in the photo gallery!

Ok, so you know the drill, we're going on tour, bla bla bla, we want you to come, bla bla bla... you've heard it all before.  We hope it sinks in this time that we are hopelessly, madly and a bit stalker-ishly in love with you, and nobody will ever love you like we love you, and if we can't have you then nobody can, and... uh, come to our shows.  Because if you don't we will hide in the bushes outside of your house, observing you with infared goggles while muttering the lyrics to "No Reply" by the Beatles to ourselves over and over... and over again.

Hey, look: UNICORNS!  Oh, no, wait... TOUR DATES!!

Your body is a wonderland,

'Squatch and the Peeps.  Word to your motha.

Greetings ARME!

Wow... just, wow.  This news post isn't really a news post, but more of a giant, virtual hug from all of us in SeepeopleS camp, because the first two nights of the EVIL SUITS tour were absolutely amazing, and we have all of you to thank for it.

If you checked out SeepeopleS for the first time, if you got dragged to the show by an overzealous friend, if you just wandered in off the street, if you had been meaning to come out and see us for a while but never got the chance, then thank you.  I saw so many new faces at the show last night, and it was an amazing feeling getting to meet some of you and dance with all of you.  I hope I didn't spill my beer on you.  And for our street teamers, seriously guys, whatever you've been doing is working.  You should bottle it and sell it.  We love you so much.

And to the gorgeous and insanely talented Stephanie Morgan from Stephanie's Id, POP Asheville and many other projects here in the Asheville area, thank you for singing with the band last night.  My favorite National Anthem ever, hands down.

And this was just the first two shows!  We are so excited to bring more and more sonic and retinal burning ridiculousness out to you guys in the coming weeks.  So thank you thank you thank you a million times!

Here's a snippet of what went down at the Grey Eagle show:

Start polishing up your helmets...  Hey look!  Tour Dates!

Giggling and jumping up and down in giddy, childlike anticipation for the rest of the tour,

Sasquatch (you know my love is real) on behalf of THE BAND, THE CREW and the whole damn crab-infested lot of SeepeopleS hangers on.

Greetings ARME!

Just in case we haven't assaulted you with this information enough times, SEEPEOPLES ARE GOING ON TOUR!  This very week, in fact!  We're psyched and you should be too.  Come out and see us.  You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll fall in love all over again.  We swear it's better than your high school's 1987 production of Xanadu.  We cannot, however, promise rollerskates, because that would be an insurance liability and we're not that kind of big time yet.

In addition to the above, calling all harassers!  Festival season will be upon us very soon, so if you'd like to see SeepeopleS at events like Bonnaroo, Gathering of the Vibes and Camp Bisco, speak up!  Email the promoters, post on the message boards and make your voice heard.  You guys have the power to get your favorite acts at your favorite festivals, and we love the help! They tell us that help brings good karma your way.  Let's test that theory.

But let's be honest... you're here for the music, and SeepeopleS can deliver just that.  Keep an eye out for new tunes by the bucketload, as the band will be returning from Chillhouse in a couple of days with some new finished material, much of which will be debuted on this next tour.  And we want to hear from you!  The question of the day is this: should we record a single version of "The Corn Syrup Conspiracy," the notoriously elusive title track that never made it on to the 2004 album of the same name?  Would you guys download that shit to your itunes?  Speak up in the message boards. If you want it, we will build it.  Or something like that.

Thank you so much to all of the street teamers and writers and entertainment editors and pre-show party planners and all around people-in-the-know that have helped us to promote this tour. You guys are the bestestest guys (and gals) in the world.

We will be seeing you so very, very soon... yahoo!  Hey look!  Tour Dates!

With dirty, knowing glances from across a smoky bar,

Your friendly neighborhood Sasquatch (on behalf, as always, of Mr. Bradford, Mr. Haney, Mr. Keys and Mr. Ingenthron and those other roadie types who make this shit go down smooth)

Greetings ARME!

We are super excited to be getting back on the road to see everyone for our EVIL SUITS tour, the first tour we've named--inspired by fine menswear, the fine effect corporate America has had on our daily lives, and the fine dining of Cracker Barrel Restaurants nationwide.  Thank you, oh giant checkerboard!  For you have inspired us once again!

Tour dates are on the tour page, of course, and include over 20 dates in the SE, NE and Midwest.  As Will would say, "Cripes!"  Come out and see us!  Our intrepid street teamers have worked extra hard on promoting this tour to make sure you know when we're coming, so get off yer butts and come see some EXCELLENT, GROUNDBREAKING music!

I know... I KNOW!  We tell you this every time, but SeepeopleS are all about constant redefining and improving upon our live shows, and we've recently added a whole mess of lights and other technical crap to our show, making it the most intense production yet - so THIS, my friends, this is indeed the tour that you MUST come and see us on.  Don't miss it. Internationally Famous and Critically Acclaimed Lighting Dude Extraordinaire Hippie Dave (that's his given name, I didn't make that up) has been hard at work in the bowels of his secret light cave, surviving on a scant diet of ring dings and Red Bull and a mere 20 minutes of sunlight a day, tinkering and building and soldering and trussing the crap out of our new stuff, ensuring the most vitamin-packed, delicious and satisfying light show yet.  When you're putting your helmets on,  you might want to also throw a pair of shades on along with it.  Protective head gear every American's first step in weathering the full on assault of a live SeepeopleS show.

In other news, SeepeopleS' videos will be featured at Music Video Asheville, taking place on February 6th at Cinebarre in Asheville.  MVA is an expo of Asheville-only musicians and filmmakers, offering up their music videos for screening and audience awards.  Will's also got a couple of solo shows coming up.  In fact, you can check his new solo shit out up at his myspace page, which is at www.myspace.com/willbradfordmusic.  Will is working on a solo album with producer Brooke Binion here in Asheville at Starlight Studios, while jet-setting back and forth to Boston to record Apocalypse Cow Vol. II with the band and producer/fifth Seeperson Will Holland at Chillhouse Studios.

Oh, and I almost forgot!  SeepeopleS have a couple of songs featured in the documentary film "A Call To Action," which chronicles the excellent non-profit organization Headcount.org.  You have to check it out.  The Documentary debuted on Jamcruise and the trailer can be seen at www.headcount.org.  If you haven't heard of Headcount, please check it out, watch the trailer and inform yourself about all the wonderful work the Headcount folks do.

Ok, that's all for now.  We friggin' love yous guyses.

hugs and kisses and the occasional dry hump,

January 5, 2007

First of all, Happy Holidays to each and everyone and THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!. What a long and crazy year it has been in SeepeopleS land. In 2007, the band released their third album, Apocalypse Cow Vol. 1, to widespread critical acclaim, and toured some 70,000 miles behind the record. Featuring new classics such “Apocalypse Cow,” “Don’t Panic,” (currently being featured on XM radio) and “My Friends,” the album set a new standard in songwriting and composition for the already adept SeepeopleS. The band had some fantastic shows, from Wakarusa and Musefest (so much fun!), to our Bele Chere 3 show musical extravaganza with good friends Perpetual Groove, as well as the first Will Bradford solo dates with Tim Reynolds in almost two years.

At the close of this momentous year, we ask those who have not bought Apocalypse Cow Vol.1, to pick up a copy! It is the perfect Holiday gift for the discerning music listener. Click here to buy the album (order before Dec. 20 in time for the holidays!) and support independent music. There has never been a more important time to do so!

Currently, there is much to report. Will Bradford, (lead singer, guitarist) recorded three songs at Starlight Studios in North Carolina to be used in an upcoming independent short film, “The Legend of Cody Collins,” produced by Shadowpuppet Productions. The songs are available for streaming at http://www.myspace.com/willbradfordmusic. “The Legend of Cody Collins” will be screened on December 28th at the Bangor Film Festival at 9pm in the Bangor Opera House. Will Bradford will be playing a solo acoustic show prior to the screening, at 5pm.

The songs recorded for the movie are also the first for a solo album by Will Bradford, also currently being recorded at Starlight Studios, so there will be a lot of music on the way for 2008. This of course includes the forthcoming fourth full-length album, Apocalypse Cow Vol. 2, which is being recorded at the familiar settings of Chillhouse Studios in Boston with long-time SeepeopleS producer Will Holland. As usual, the album promises to be overly ambitious, perplexing, and monstrous in scope. “Fans of the band’s second album, the Corn Syrup Conspiracy, will probably like the second installment of Apocalypse Cow more than the first, “ states Bradford. “It is certainly a return to the electronica-freak out roots we were once known for.” If it is anything like the first three albums, epic will probably best describe it.

Of course, there is nothing like a live SeepeopleS show. The first shows of 2008 are listed below and on our web site at www.seepeoples.com. Please…please…please! Come to to the shows! The band will be debuting tons of new material on the next run, as well as refinements in production, and new video fodder! (we know you love it!) For those of you who keep saying you’re gonna make it but just can’t quite pry yourselves off the couch… shame on you! For our friends, fans, and family, we can’t wait to hang out you with you next year! Happy Holidays and thank you for everything!

Love and hugs,
Will, Tim, Dan and Pete and the entire SeepeopleS family!

Greetings ARME! As fall approaches, SeepeopleS are happy to let you know that the band has been back in the studio creating Apocalypse Cow Vol. II, due out in the first half of 2008. Songs you might hear live that will be on the new album include Face The Day and I Got One Thing--check out the message board for set lists and news from recent shows. The band is still on the road, and the fall tour extends through November. Be sure to check the tour page and pencil a show in if you want to see the band--we'll likely be off the road over the winter, finalizing the new album and working on some other hair-brained schemes that we know you'll all love.

"The playful Death Cab For Cutie-like title track is one of the songs of the year, and signals a quantum leap in songwriting, vision and scope. The transformation is almost shocking, as Bradford serves up one stunning pop confection after another... this ambitious-yet-enormously entertaining album is an unexpected surprise." -- From The Big Takeover

Thanks for your support and we'll see you out on the road!

Greetings ARME!  The final leg of the Apocalypse Cow Vol. I CD release tour has arrived, and SeepeopleS are out for a few more dates this spring until festival season arrives.  Plus, we've got a very special homecoming show at Asheville's own Grey Eagle Music Hall in West Asheville.  The band is very proud to return to one of our favorite venues for a full night of music with special guests Lose This Gun.  Check out the tour page for all of the details.

If you haven't yet picked up a copy of SeepeopleS' new album, then now is the time--but don't take our word for it... the reviews are in, and Apocalypse Cow is a hit with the critics!  Check out our press page for recent reviews, and keep an eye out for SeepeopleS' upcoming features and reviews in Relix, The Big Takeover, An Honest Tune, Hittin' The Note and more!

"But while the world may be at its most desolate and chaotic turning point, SeepeopleS has released their best and most focused album to date, embodying an ambitious band on the rise with an aggressive and edgier vision."  Read more...

March 20, 2007

Greetings ARME!
It's March 20 and as promised, Apocalypse Cow Vol. I is hot off the presses and ready to be ordered from our Merch page. Go get one. We promise that you'll either love it or hate it, but either way, it will be an experience totally worth your hard earned cash. Buying albums, of course, is also the best way to support SeepeopleS--it's no secret that we just love albums. I'd even go so far as to say, perhaps, that we *heart* albums, and despite this crazy, mixed-up, iPod world, we'll continue to make 'em in no small quantities. Sure, maybe we're old fashioned... shit, maybe we're even disturbingly out of touch... but given time, "old fashioned" and "crazy" slowly morph together into "retro" and retro is like, wicked hip. So get on the train, people!

We must tell you though, that if you wanted to buy SeepeopleS' latest album at your local record store, we are sad to inform you that you'll have to wait until April 10th. We experienced a significant delay from our manufacturer during the pressing of the album and unfortunately, had to move our official street date back. However, you can always order online, and--AND!--them there record stores don't carry our nifty ancillary merch, now do they? Perfect opportunity to pick up a t-shirt or some other cool stuff when you buy your album.

And don't forget, the summer festival season is rapidly approaching, so grab your Harmony Ball, Wakarusa, Blossom Blast and MuseFest tickets now.  You can also catch the band out on tour this spring.  See the Tour Page for complete dates.

Media guru and all around nice guy Pat Haney has made another of his wry and humorous SeepeopleS videos, this time for the new song "Holding" from Apocalypse Cow Vol. I--this video features the now infamous "bananapants incident"--you'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll fall in love all over again... observe:

Thanks for your support and we'll see you out on the road!

SeepeopleS Announce Apocalypse Cow Vol. I Release Date: March 20, 2007

Greetings ARME!  SeepeopleS are excited to announce the release date for their third album, Apocalypse Cow Vol. I. The album will be released on the band’s own imprint, Razcalz Recordz, on March 20, 2007.

With an intensive focus on memorable songwriting, coupled with the band’s trademark psychedelic touches, SeepeopleS’ latest effort leaps forward into the sonic side of rock and roll, offering up 15 songs that reveal a previously under-explored facet to the band’s often politically-minded themes. Bandleader Will Bradford elaborates: “This is a deeply personal record. I tried to capture all of the drastic changes that have gone on in my life recently—a lot of those changes seem to coincide with world events, and the fusion of those two sides of my perception gave me the ideas for Apocalypse Cow Vol. I.”

But fans of SeepeopleS’ two previous albums, The Corn Syrup Conspiracy and For The Good Of The Nation, have no need to worry. Apocalypse Cow Vol. I promises to provide listeners with the band’s signature majestic instrumentation, provocative lyrics and singularity of vision, the driving forces behind SeepeopleS’ burgeoning fan base. And in answer to the inevitable questions about a follow up album, a Vol. II will indeed be the band’s next effort.

SeepeopleS’ most recent album, The Corn Syrup Conspiracy, won critical praise nationally for its polished production value, as well as its attention to songwriting and cohesiveness, and its cameo appearances by musical virtuosos Tim Reynolds, Dana Colley (Morhphine), Dave Shul (Spearhead) and members of Parliament Funkadelic. The album, in fact, boasts the last known commercial recording of the late Ray Davis, Parliament’s signature booming baritone vocalist.

But outside of making albums that inspire such praise as, “stunning (Glide Magazine),” and “[an] amazing work (Jambase.com),” SeepeopleS offer an intense live show that often spurs fans to wonder how the band can make such a robust sound with only four people on stage. SeepeopleS will be touring throughout 2007 in support of Apocalypse Cow Vol. I, and the band has already debuted live versions of many of the songs from the new album.

Apocalypse Cow Vol. I Track List:

Don’t Panic
Apocalypse Cow
Last Sane Man
Don’t Be So Long
The Sun Is With You
My Friends
Stranded On The Sidewalk
Once A Dream
Holding
Already Laughing
Angels In Line
Someday Robots
Battle Cry
Last Breath
Say Goodbye

GreetingsARME!  It's been a long time since we've posted any news, and it's true, we've been busy!  Will, Dan, Tim and Pete have been busy in the studio working on Apocalypse Cow Vol. I, and in between sessions, Will has been busy working with Barefoot Manner on their new studio album, Dan is working on a new side project and Pete, as always, is busy gigging with BandB and others.  But not to worry, there are plenty of SeepeopleS gigs coming up, all of which can be found on the tour page.

If you haven't had a chance to see SeepeopleS liveyet, you can now do so from the comfort of your own living room!  We've uploaded some clips of the band performing live onto youtube.com--just search for SeepeopleS and you'll be rolling in live footage.  And here's a video from Ziggy's in Winston-Salem of the band playing their cover of "Pets" by Porno for Pyros with Brock Butler of Perpetual Groove sitting in on guitar:

That's it for now, thanks for supporting SeepeopleSand we'll see you on the road very soon!

July 13, 2006

Greetings ARME!  We know you're getting impatient, and don't worry!  We'll be getting the boys back out on the road very soon (July 27th, to be exact)! But first, preview some of the brand new "Apocalypse Cow Vol. I" material by hitting up a Will solo gig!  There are plenty coming up, all of which can be found on the tour page.

Will will also be competing in the final round of the French Broad Brewing Co.'s Brown Bag Songwriter Competition this Saturday, July 22 at the Root Bar.  Will's got some stiff competition from some amazing regional songwriters, so come on down and choose your favorite during the audience vote!  This will be a great night of music.

SeepeopleS are also happy to announce that the band has been added to the lineup for Earthdance 2006, taking place in Oxford, OH as well as multiple locations around the world!  Earth Dance is a very special event to promote environmental awareness and understanding between cultures.

Finally, those in the know are already buying their tickets to the Crystal River Experience, the one and only ticket-holders-only all night party in a very special undisclosed location in CO.  SeepeopleS will be playing an all night set for only $15, and tickets are going very fast!  So hop on over to the tour page to pick yours up.  Not only will it be a great night of music, but the tickets themselves are really neat pieces of artwork that you'll want to add to your collection.

June 25, 2006

As SeepeopleS' Summer Vacation ambles on into July, Will solo gigs abound!  For those that missed Will at IdFest last night, you can catch him again throughout July at Ed Boudreaux's, Hanna Flanagan's, The Town Pump and a very special performance at Dave Turner's Songwriters in the Round series, featuring the music of Dave Turner, Will Bradford and a third performer TBA.  Check the tour page for all of the details.

SeepeopleS are also very happy to announce that we will be headlining the Roxaway Music Festival this year, taking place at The Gorges Music Park in Lake Toxaway, NC - yes, the very same park that hosted this year's Smilefest! - Roxaway will feature SeepeopleS on Friday night/Saturday morning in a 1am to ?? set, so for those of you that have not yet had a chance to see the band kick some serious all-nighter ass, this is your festival! June 5, 2006

We had a great time at Smilefest this weekend, thanks to Bob and the Smilefest family for having us out.  Unfortunately, Pete's travel arrangements put him in the wrong city, so the band played a three-piece set that sounded great.  We really missed Pete and are glad that he's home safe and sound.

SeepeopleS will be taking a very brief but much needed hiatus from the road; keep an eye on the tour page for dates to start coming in for late July and early August, including the Muse Fest in Ithaca, NY and the Carbondale Mountain Fair in Carbondale, CO.  The June Chicago and Cincy shows have been canceled, sorry that we can't make it, but we will be seeing you very soon!

In other news, the guys will be heading into the studio in the coming weeks to start recording Apocalypse Cow Vol. I.  The track list has been mostly solidified and we are planning on a January release with a special December presale for those wanting to give the gift of PeepS to their loved ones this holiday season.  More news on that as it trickles in.

In the meantime, Will has some solo gigs coming up in the Asheville area and Chicago-area folks can often find Dan sitting in with the Super American Happy Fun Good Time Jamband at their local gigs.  In addition, Will and Tim have gotten together with Jay Sanders and Jeremy Saunders, formerly of Acoustic Syndicate, and are starting a project together.  They've just started rehearsing together and it's anticipated that the project will initially be a mix of originals and covers.

February 26, 2006

Greetings ARME! Thanks for coming out to your local SeepeopleS shows and making them a hit! We had a great time out this last run and look forward to seeing all of our Ohio friends again soon. Thanks to Buzz for an amazing time at Camp Buzz and to BandB for hosting us out in Plymouth, MI.

Two dates have been cancelled - 9/22 in Utica and the Adirondack Forest Festival. We're sorry we won't be able to make it and will be back up in the Northeast again real soon. For Southeast fans, check out the Homegrown Music Network festival on Oct. 1 and a run of dates throughout the Southeast. Two more shows opening for our friends Perpetual Groove are coming up as well, 12/2 at Ziggy's and 12/30 at the Georgia Theatre. Info is on the tour page and we look forward to seeing you there!

Will also has one more solo date in the coming weeks at Hannah Flannagan's in Asheville with 'Captain Anarchy' himself, Sven Hooson. Be there or be square.

Thanks for your support and we'll see you out on the road!
